FAQs
Honest answers. Expert insight. That’s the Aboveboard way.
How often should I get my roof inspected?
Your roof may look fine-but time and weather tell a different story.
Most asphalt roofs are replaced around the 16-year mark, but trouble can start far earlier. Once your roof is 10 years old, it’s smart to schedule annual or biennial inspections. Signs like algae streaks, shingle shine (exposed fiberglass), or shading indicate wear. At Aboveboard Roofing Co., we offer free inspections—no pressure, just peace of mind.
How do I know if I should file an insurance claim?
Not all damage is visible-and not all repairs are created equal.
Our team is trained to evaluate your roof through the lens of your insurance carrier. We know what each provider looks for in terms of damage thresholds, code compliance, and repair feasibility.
We offer free hail and wind inspections to help you decide if filing a claim is worth it. Even minor shingle damage can impact the roof’s system-and sometimes repairs aren’t code-compliant or uniform, making a replacement the smarter path. Let us assess it first, and give you straightforward odds of approval.
What if my insurance denies my roof claim?
Denied doesn’t mean done.
Adjusters are generalists-not roofing experts. That’s why many valid claims get rejected. We specialize in advocating for our clients and can often uncover the overlooked issues that matter most-like out-of-production shingles, underlayment integrity, or repair methods that won’t hold up. We’ll fight to make sure your roof is properly restored-not patched together.
How much does a new roof cost?
Every home is different-so is every roof.
The average roofing project costs between $11,000-$18,000, but that depends on the size, pitch, material, and the property owner’s preferences. We provide custom quotes based on precise measurements and your long-term goals. From affordable upgrades to premium roofing systems, Aboveboard delivers quality and clarity every step of the way.
Do I have to pay my insurance deductible?
Yes-but we make it manageable.
Your deductible is the first part of your insurance claim and must be paid out-of-pocket. At Aboveboard, we offer flexible payment options, including splitting the deductible into two installments if needed. The good news? Kentucky and Indiana have some of the lowest average deductibles in the country-around $1,500-unlike states like Florida or Texas, where they can be ten times higher.
What should I do if my roof is leaking?
Act fast, but don’t rush your decision.
A leak doesn’t always mean it’s time for a full replacement. We offer emergency tarp and patch services to stop the leak immediately, buying you time to make the right long-term decision—not a rushed one. From there, we’ll assess the best course of action and work with your insurance to get it done aboveboard.
Are you insured?
Absolutely. Top-to-bottom coverage-for your peace of mind.
We carry full General Liability and Workers’ Comp insurance and make sure every partner we work with is also fully covered. We regularly audit all policies to ensure full compliance for every job, every time.
What type of warranty do you offer?
We stand behind our work-with no fine print.
Every Aboveboard Roofing Co. project includes a 5-Year Workmanship Warranty, covering both labor and materials. For qualifying premium installations, we also offer 10-Year Extended Warranties. Whether it’s a leak or accidental property damage, if it’s part of our work, it’s covered-plain and simple.
What sets Aboveboard Roofing Co. apart?
We’re not just another roofer-we’re your advocate.
Our team combines product mastery, insurance fluency, and the customer care of your favorite local business. We’re not just trained in shingle patterns-know how to make complex insurance claims simple, fight for full coverage, and deliver an experience that’s clean, clear, and confidently aboveboard.
How long does a roof installation take?
Most installs are done in a day. No stress. No mess.
Small and mid-sized roofs are often completed in just one day, with most projects wrapped in 3 days or less. We monitor the weather closely and ensure proper staffing so your home isn’t exposed if storms roll in. Most projects begin within 1–3 days of receiving the deposit-though insurance delays can sometimes slow things down. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
